Labyrinth Write-In

This free weekly write-in is for anyone who wants to work on their project in companionable silence. We do a little check-in at the beginning, an optional one halfway through, and one at the end. People get stuff done.

It’s a friendly, intimate group, and I’ve realized I haven’t mentioned it much lately. Drop in anytime—we’d love to have you.

Two Craft Workshops for the Price of One

In The Hidden Language of Story, we’ll explore the strange alchemy of metaphor—what happens when we yoke two seemingly unlike things and discover the connection between them.

Then in Poetry for Fiction Writers (and Memoirists), we’ll turn our attention to sound: what happens to our prose when we listen to language the way poets do.

A great plot and memorable characters are essential to any kind of narrative. But it’s for the words that we fall into the story. It’s the words that electrify us, sing to us, and ride us to the end. When we take the time to play with the language of poetry, our narrative writing changes. In this workshop, we’ll explore the pleasure of sounds in poems, then experiment with bringing some of that music into our stories. When I released the new Considering Flight, a Labyrinth member asked if I'd teach a poetry workshop, so I am. Now I'd like to hear from you. What would you like to learn? Guest Workshop: Unfenced Writing--A Journal Keeping Studio for Adventurous Writers with Author Margaret Kellermann

Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20, 1:30-3:00 PT/4:30-6:00 ET $197 (Labyrinth members can use points)

This two-session online studio, held over one weekend, is a chance to experience journaling not as a side practice, but as a source practice — the place where voice loosens, images surface, and the work begins to move again.

Each 90-minute session blends short craft insights, playful and non-judgmental writing invitations, and quiet space to discover what wants to come through. You’ll leave with fresh pages — and language you can carry back into your poems, stories, essays, or current work-in-progress.

Because journaling isn’t separate from our writing life.

It’s often where our truest writing begins.

At its heart, Labyrinth is a shared space: something like a writers’ common room. A place you can return to regularly to think, ask questions, listen in, or bring your work forward. Some months, you may come for a focused workshop. Other times, for conversation, perspective, or simply the presence of other writers engaged in their craft.
