Tomorrow is the last day to register for the Full-Bodied Writing Retreat

Someone told me recently that he felt "more himself" when he wrote. And I thought, "Yes!"

We write to let loose the stories clamoring around in our heads, to crystalize thoughts and emotions, to give form to something ethereal. And the work transforms us.

This is the way we heal: We become solidly, authentically ourselves. We give form to what is within us. And we take that light and our transformed selves to the world.

This is not a luxury. It is not a thing to set aside until we have "spare time." Our writing is vital, essential work.

Especially now.

But to do it--to start or to start again--we need sacred space, sacred time. That's why I started the Full-Bodied Writing Retreat. Not just because it would be fun (and of course it is) but because I think it's vital.

We are living in abstraction--in virtuality. And what is in the clouds floating around our heads is chaos. It gives us very real stomachaches and very real sleeplessness, and we need to come back to ourselves.

To touch the ground, and eat and laugh, and make real our imaginations.

So come. Bring your work--the work that makes you alive. Bring your energy and your readiness for rest.

Tomorrow is the last day to register.

Love,

Katherine

Hey all! Here's something I spent the spring working on with a small, dedicated group of writers, who helped me get it ready for you! It was so lovely to be back in that weekly group energy and hearing people's wonderful stories. Now our new, limited-enrollment coaching groups begin in mid-July. Won't you join us? Here's the skinny:You don’t need to write alone.Your story matters—but when you’re in the thick of it, it’s easy to lose your way. What seemed clear at first starts to blur. The...

Hello all! I wanted to let you know about a really fun opportunity, which my friend, editor Lynn Post, is hosting. The Mid-Summer Writes Dream retreat will be held at a unique, idyllic property on Vashon Island that offers the best of both worlds: outdoor camping in a quiet, peaceful setting completely immersed in nature, with access to the basic comforts of home (flushing toilets, showers, electricity, wifi, and a full kitchen)! This glamping-style retreat was intentionally designed to be...

Many writers have told me they wanted to come to the Full-Bodied Writing Retreat. But this year, our normal capacity was limited due to a change in faculty lodging. Good news! We've found a solution with a few days to go that opens just a few more spots! Our registration deadline is Thursday, as we have to let Saint Andrew's House know people's dietary needs in time for them to purchase the appropriate farm to table ingredients, and also let our massage therapists know how many massages to...
